Former NBA star Charles Barkley to open China restaurant in Shanghai

Shanghai — — A Chinese restaurant that specializes in Chinese cuisine will open in Shanghai in July, The Associated Press has learned.

The restaurant, dubbed Chino, is located in a renovated hotel on a strip of ground floor space in the city’s commercial district.

It is being named for Charles Barkley, who played in the NBA for 20 seasons.

The former NBA star has lived in Shanghai for five years.

“I’ve always been a fan of Chinese food,” he told the AP.

“I’ve never really been to China, but it’s a nice place to visit and I’m really excited to be part of this.”

The restaurant will have a full menu of Chinese cuisine, including seafood and vegetarian dishes, as well as burgers, fish dishes and other regional fare.

The business is scheduled to open in late summer, and the menu will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, the AP reported.

It will have three restaurants, including a restaurant featuring traditional Chinese cuisine.

The restaurant will also have a large dining room that seats 40.

Chino is the latest restaurant in China to be opened by a former NBA player.

The Beijing Hotel recently opened a new location in Shanghai with Chinese-American restaurateur and investor Brian C. Deacon, who also owns the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team.
